In this year of a US election that has an 82 year old against a 78 year old, age is a subject that is getting much attention.

With respect to conducting, age is also being questioned.  Conductors are younger than ever.  But there is one conductor who is the oldest of us all, to whom we must show our respect and be in awe: Herbert Thorson Blomstedt.
